Lyme Awareness Art Project

LAAP was born out of my own struggle with Advanced Neurological Lyme Disease.
I needed to find some way to transcend my own suffering and to give myself a sense of purpose. I was also horrified at the lack of unbiased research that had been done and the often violent clash of opinions in the medical world not only on treatment protocol but whether or not Advanced Lyme could be cured at all! Through LAAP I hope to show some of the faces and stories behind Lyme to raise awareness that more research is desperately needed.

The project originally began with me painting other Lyme sufferers and posting their stories online with the portraits of them. I soon realized that with my own ongoing battle with this disease the task of painting and editing all of the stories was jut too much for me. At the same time I realized that other Advanced Lyme sufferers had also turned to creativity to ease their suffering and who better could express what Lyme has done to their lives.

In light of the amazing poetry and art/photos I have received I have expanded the LAAP Cyber Gallery to include the artwork and poetry of your Lyme experience. All poems and artwork must in some way reflect your Lyme experience. I will post work and bios as space permits. You can send me your submissions via the email link at the bottom of the page.
